BrucoMela

A small animated loop

In Italy, we have this sort of rollercoaster for kids called BrucoMela, literally "the Bug of the Apple".

It’s the very first carousel that you wanna try when you’re little, it’s so fun riding a little train with the shape of a bug on this small version of a rollercoaster.

BrucoMela!

One day, I was already an adult, I opened an apple and I found a tiny bug inside it. Instead of screaming, I said: “Hey, little buddy! What are you doing here?”

And I’m quite sure that it answered me: “Well, I’m doing a ride!”

That’s the idea, and that’s a little loop I did as an homage to my favourite big bug from my childhood. The animation is a mix of frame-by-frame for the bug and a bit of comp in After Effects. The sound was made by my friend John Poon.

Ciao!
